Connor's Blue Car Journey

Updated: May 19, 2022

Connor Brierley started at Blue Car Technologies as an IT Support & Infrastructure Engineer Apprentice in the Summer of 2020. His work ethic, ability to learn fast and people skills meant he successfully completed his apprenticeship last year. He has become an essential part of the team and we couldn’t be happier to have him as a permanent employee!

Who is Connor?

Connor is in his early twenties and lives in Berkshire. He has a huge passion for IT, so it comes as no surprise that he chose Blue Car Technologies for a full-time career.

In his spare time, he plays video games, enjoys running, cycling, weights or cardio. His Tae Kwon Do training taught him the values of Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, Indomitable Spirit, which he follows in every aspect of life - something his colleagues appreciate about him.

Connor’s background

Connor studied a BTEC IT course at A-Level, specifically Fundamentals of IT, Global Information and Cyber-Security. These courses have provided him with knowledge of the basics, as well as with an understanding of the legal and business side of IT.

He taught himself to manage his own devices, teaching himself new terms such as DNS settings and data packets, as well as how to optimise both devices for better processing power as well as network and internet connection.

He is also quite adept at Microsoft 365 applications, especially Access, Edexcel and Word, as he has learned how to manage data within these applications as well as linking them together for further organisation.

Why Blue Car Technologies?

Following his A-Level, Connor was looking for a support role where he could develop his IT skills. As a Bespoke Development Company, Blue Car Technologies was very appealing to him. He believes the size of the business was a key factor in expanding his role and taking on new challenges. Every day brings different opportunities – over the last few months, Connor contributed to the Cyber Essentials Plus project, supported customers all over the world with any DocuSign Connector queries and Software installations.

In his own words …

‘I would definitely recommend an apprenticeship after completing your studies. Blue Car has really helped me develop my potential and achieve my career goals.

My top tips for any student out there are as follows:

  1. Make sure you research roles out there, know what you want to do and which companies will provide what you’re looking for.

  2. Keep studying to develop your skills.

  3. Most importantly, have confidence in yourself. ‘
